QR codes!

Following on from my previous attempts at laser cutting QR codes, I had a little doodle of some ideas design ideas that could both work better and that could include a QR code. I watched a few YouTube videos as well, to get an idea of how I could successfully create a scan-able code that could also peak visual interest. I came across an interesting idea - cutting a stencil out of the plastic coating on acrylic plastic and painting over it to produce a code! Intriguing! I also wanted to try and raster again but on lighter wood but ran out of time as rastering is a complicated method and couldn’t get it to consistently work (something to work on)

Backtracking a little, the doodling is as follows:

Whilst I have no idea if it would actually work or not, I'm envisioning a really impactful, environmentalism poster, laser cut, featuring a QR code acting as a sort of answer to a proposed question... I'm not sure if this would work better as a photo based raster or a simple line work poster but once I get back to doing practical work again this is something I want to try out.

Learning through failure ^
I did this as a cut through, so I could paint the individual shapes to stick onto another surface to create a relief QR code but did it too small so some of the smaller blocks fell through to the base of the laser cutter - if it were my own and used and cleaned I could go through and find the pieces in theory but these pieces here were gone, lost in amongst the rubble! Basically, this idea could work but would need to be considerably bigger so the smallest pieces are bigger than the gaps in the machine.
I would like to say this is news to me but it isn't, this happened a lot last year so this is something I should have thought about but I didn't go into the session with a real plan, in terms of sizes, so it didn't go all that well^^^

So it works... but good lord was it a LOT of effort! From beginning to end it took a lot of time to peel all the little sections off and because the acrylic paint is on acrylic, it just really doesn’t want to come off and has left quite the mess behind. It will probably work better with spray paint but I simply didn't have the time to do that and I'm not sure it's generally worth it - rastering onto acrylic may be though...

All in all, I've focused a bit too much time on these QR codes and need to develop some other ideas that can work alongside them!
